An Old, New Descovery

This will seem a little juxtaposed when put against my last post, but I must confess I've discovered an amazing product courtesy of Glossy Box - I'll put my shame face on later! I'm quite strict when it comes to my skin care routine as I suffer from pretty horrific breakouts and in the past I've found changing products too much only makes matters worse. So when it comes to body care and moisturisers, I love to experiment and tend to hoard quite a bit!

So the other day, while I was emulating Indiana Jones searching through my shelf, I came across Nuxe - Dry Oil and decided to give it ago. Before I get on down with this, I just want to say that typically, I hate oils. Anything greasy, that clings to the skin and doesn't go anywhere... it's not for me. But this little oil slapped me in the face :), and I'm quite glad of it too!

While doing a bit of research on the brand, I was interested to learn that 80% of their ingredients are natural and contain no mineral oil, which is something to be aware of if using this on your face or problem skin areas as mineral oil can clog up pores and cause breakouts.

So what of this little bottle of dreams? Well, it's simply amazing. All you need is a few drops in the palm of your hand to cover one leg, it goes a lot further than you think it will! Another thing I was really surprised by was the consistency. While being a lot thinner than most oils, the hydrating effects are no less rewarding, and the appearance of my skin afterwards was amazing! My legs had a lovely healthy glow, and felt beautifully soft.

One of the biggest perks of using oils is their multipurpose quality, there's nothing they can't do! It can be used on your face, elbows, knees and hair. Also, adding a few drops to your bath guarantees a rewarding experience and creates the most amazing smell. That's another point I should touch on with Nuxe... the smell is gorgeous! As I have said in previous posts, I'm not the biggest floral scent fan, and while I would describe Nuxe as a floral smell, it's not overwhelming or unbearable and might even go as far as to say - I like it! 

I'm struggling at this point to think of anyone this product wouldn't be suited for. As I mentioned ealier, I'm not a fan of overly oily products, but this is totally different and really worth giving a go. It really is the ultimate in skin TLC. The only down side is the price, for a 50ml it will set you back £17 and for the 100ml it costs £28.30 (prices based on www.feelunique.com), which addmittedly, if your just wanting to try it, can seem quite a lot. But it is totally worth it if your after an oil that delivers results and nourishes your skin. This little bottle almost makes me wish I had more problem skin areas so I could use it more!

With Regret...

So I'm writing this from my spare bedroom while my boyfriend snoozes quietly in my room. My sleeping pattern has been awful lately, if I'm asleep before 12pm and manage to sleep past 4am I can consider it a good night! I think it has something to do with the aviary of birds nesting under my window - I just don't have the heart to evict them!

It's also not the best of topics I'm writing about today which fills me with sadness!

I've been getting Glossy Box since it began last year and at first I was really impressed with it. Even if some of the brands where anonymous to me I could always find something I liked or that worked incredibly well! But slowly over the last few months the boxes I received really started to let me down. It's a bit like the lottery with Glossy Box in so much as, you can see all the products you could have had, but sod's law is you haven't got them.

So after being disappointed by April's box again, I did a bit of research on some different blogs to see whether it was just me getting the short straw. Thankfully it seemed not. Quite a few bloggers where saying the same thing, from what I gather, it appears to be on rotation as to what you get, i.e - one month out of three you'll get a really popular, well known product. Which is fine. If you don't mind all the bits in between it's worth hanging on to your subscription. But sadly, I was so disappointed with May's box that I decided to cancel. Admittedly seeing a lavender based moisturiser put the nail in that coffin... I hate lavender!

I guess after weighing up the pro's and con's, I was collecting so many different things I would never use and ended up giving most of the things away - I think the only things I kept from the May box where the shower gel and the balloon, (the balloon was a person highlight!)

I have really enjoyed my time with Glossy Box and really looked forward to it coming every month! And I do have every intention of subscribing again in the future because I have found some really amazing products through them! I just think for now that I should work through the products I have and diminish my supplies a little!

Thanks to Glossy Box, party supply shops everywhere can expect an increase in balloon sales. 

So just a quick update on life at the moment, me and my boyfriend have officially started flat hunting! Which is all to scary, but really exciting at the same time! We're planning to move to Bristol which is where his job will be based, so its a completely new place for both of us. Living in Chester, I've never had much reason to visit so we're going to go up mid-June to do some flat-viewing and have a look around.

If anyone who knows or lives in Bristol has any advice on good things to see or do.. or just anything about the city really - do let me know! =)

Ode to a glossy box

The in’s and out’s of the past few weeks… but in actual fact, there all in’s :)

I haven’t done one of these in a while so I thought I'd update!

I’m loving a lot of things at the moment but one thing I promised myself I wouldn’t go on about… I’m going to have to go on about. I discovered this product in my August Glossy Box and after just two uses I’m in love!

KMS California (Hair stay style boost)

I have to admit it takes an awful lot for me to rave about a hair product, but this one has done it. Its described as being a 'primer for your hair', so much like a make-up primer, it enhances the performance of your usual styling products. I didn’t really look at what it did before using it, I just read the directions and went to town, not expecting to find the holy grail in a can. After towel drying hair you massage in, from root to tip, a small amount and then style as usual. It’s a really refreshing product to use as I’ve never had a hair moose that cools and crackles in my hand… if cave men could see us now! It not only enhanced the performance of my usual volume moose by making my hair smoother and more manageable, it also brought out the colours making them more defined. And it dried A LOT smoother and tamer than before!
I cannot rate this product enough! I will definitely be buying it!

Following the Yellow Brick Road...

Last weekend I got to re-discover my love for an old classic and childhood nostalgia.

The show itself was outstanding. As much as it pains me to say, Andrew Lloyd Webber well and truly out did the original film, and Danielle Hope really did Dorothy justice! Webber stayed loyal to the original story of Oz but brought it up to date by giving the characters more dimension and depth. A particular favourite was the Tin Man, who was probably my least favourite in the film. He took on a comical macho role that ensured any difficult situation he was faced with, was all the more hilarious because of his ambivalence... the poppy field scene was a definite favourite.

The thing I was most curious about was how they would create the set and some of the illusions, for instance the storm and the yellow brick road. The film presents Dorothy's life on the farm in black and white to demonstrate the bleakness of her life, then springs into beautiful technicolour when she reaches Oz. The stage production was no different, and the colours where even more beautiful. The effects of the storm where delivered using a screen that was pulled across the stage... sadly there were no flying farm animals. And the yellow brick road was a tilted revolving circle from inside that changed colour with the entrance to the Emerald city and the poppy field. Clever stuff... I recommend being sober when watching.

So, after seeing the west-end production in all it's glory I was left feeling staggered by the fact that (as a child... and an adult for that matter) I had never owned a pair of Dorothy style shoes... so I'm about to start a new craft project ;).

Speaking of shoes...

Irregular Choice never fail to amuse me!

Unexpected fits of laughter courtesy of Modern Family. I'm currently in love with this show! I've never really been into american family based sitcoms but this is hilarious! If you haven't seen it yet I really recommend you do!
