Le Blanc De Chanel Review

With the weather cooling down (ever so slightly) I wanted to post a review about Le Blanc De Chanel because I have found it a great product during the slightly cooler days to really boost the radiance and overall appearance of my skin.

Le Blanc De Chanel - £31 Selfridges

The purpose of Le Blanc De Chanel is to act as a light source for your skin and boost luminosity. It sounds quite simple. And it also sounds like it wouldn’t work. But don’t be fooled by the simplistic premise of this product, it works wonderful magic on your skin! Unlike a lot of ‘illuminating bases’, it doesn’t just make your skin look greasy and consider it a job done. I hate overly moisturising primers and foundations but this one is really comfortable and not too heavy. The consistency is quite thin so it’s really easy to over use but I have found the spatula is a great tool to help moderate how much you get out.

When you look at it in the bottle or on your hand, it is THE whitest thing you will ever see. It’s seriously like Chanel have bottled Caspar. But it blends so easily into the skin and adapts really well to different skin tones. It doesn’t work as a concealer and sadly does not hide spots or scaring but I have found when I use it on its own it does counteract redness and brightens up, not only my whole complexion, but those pesky dark circles under my eyes.

One downside, if you have quite oily skin like me, I would approach this one with caution! I have used Le Blanc De Chanel on and off for over a year and it has had... what I can only describe as a Cinderella effect on me. Every day, at about 2pm, I look in the mirror and see patches of make-up slowly absorbing my powder so I run to the bathroom to blot for fear my face will look like a pumpkin again. It’s a pretty big downside and a bit of a pain if you wear it to work under your usual make-up.

While I’m completely in love with the way Le Blanc De Chanel lights up my complexion, I don’t think it is for everyone. It’s really handy if you have dry skin or if you want to make your foundation a lighter colour during the winter months but on hot days it can be quite risky when worn as a base.

Have you tried anything similar?

  3. Great review - I've been quite undecided about this but I have the curse of oily skin too so I think I might give it a miss, a shame!

    1. Oh, I feel your pain there. There are so many great products but that are also overly hydrating... disaster!

  6. I have been using the laura mercier radiance primer this month ( I just reviewed it on my blog actually), and I feel like these two products essentially do the same thing which is boost radiance on your skin. They do look very differnent in consistency though!
